"Why Should I Get My Pet Groomed?"

Just like people, dogs need physical maintenance so they can look and feel their best. Thankfully, dogs do not need to bathe as often as people- but you need to learn how much grooming your dog actually needs, and keep it on a schedule. In general, a dog's grooming needs depend on the breed and hair type. However, if your dog has a skin, ear or nail condition, you should follow your veterinarian's instructions regarding grooming your dog. It is important to remember that grooming is not just cutting the pet's hair, but also includes brushing, nail trimming, bathing, and ear cleaning. By scheduling an appointment with our pet hospital in Cumming you can keep your pets hair maintained.

Because of the amount of time the groomer spends on your pet, an added bonus to the improved health and attitude of the pet, is that the groomer may notice a health condition that has gone unnoticed or just developed.

It is important to brush your dog frequently in between grooming appointments. Long-haired dogs usually require daily brushing to prevent the fur from matting and tangling. Medium-haired dogs should be brushed at least weekly, and short-haired dogs can go up to a month in-between brushing. However, regardless of hair type, you can brush your dog daily- especially if they enjoy it. More frequent brushing during shedding season can help prevent hair build-up and excess shedding.
